American Hung Gar is a fighting system designed for real world application. We stress low powerful kicks, effective practical hand techniques, and mental toughness. Combined with superior fitness, iron body, and street applicable grappling, our exponents are adept at defending themselves.
Students will learn that the fight takes place at all levels. Meaning, the dance of combat could involve striking, grappling or something in-between. To that end, study of this system includes meditative martial forms and various exercises that will test your will and general character. We spar every class.
American Hung Gar isn't for everyone. While any fitness level is welcome to apply to this school, each student must pass the same requirements to advance. This means proficiency is required.
We train outside most of the year, like the masters of old. This encourages students to become mentally and physically stronger while fostering a connection to nature.
Our standards are high. You have to choose to be strong. To hold on longer than your opponent. With that choice, comes lots of sweat and hard work.
Surely, this is the path less travelled.
